In 2021, I spent a quarter in Professor Ron Astor’s class at UCLA studying various writing styles for published policy briefs.
I learned how to frame a policy issue to be relevant to my target audience, argue for my viewpoint, and incorporate research into my writing. In the following policy brief, I present relevant research and policy recommendations for improved Southeast Asian education outcomes.

The Portrayal of Immigration During the 2020 Presidential Election Cycle
In 2021, I spent a quarter in Professor Menjivar’s class at UCLA studying various broadcasting styles concerning global immigration.
This published research paper on LA Social Science explores the relationship between U.S. media portrayal of immigrants in the month of October in major English and Spanish news outlets, and the voting outcomes in the November 2020 Presidential election. We analyzed two major broadcasting outlets in America to conduct our empirical research.
